Visit the Potala Palace, a UNESCO site and symbol of Tibet’s spiritual and political heritage. Explore the Thousand Buddha Cliff, featuring 7th-century rock carvings augmented over centuries.
Afternoon:Tour the Jokhang Temple to worship the 12-year-old Buddha statue brought by Princess Wencheng. Join a Barkhor Street Citywalk to follow pilgrims in their prostrations. Choose between a Thangka painting workshop (using mineral pigments) or Tibetan incense-making experience (with ingredients like cypress and sandalwood).
Evening:Enjoy a group dinner followed by a special photo/video session with the Potala Palace as your backdrop.
Wander through Norbulingka, the "Summer Palace of Tibet," a gem of Tibetan garden architecture. It is the largest, most scenic, and historically richest man-made garden in Tibet, divided into three architectural zones: the Palace Area, Pre-Palace Area, and Forest Area. Stepping inside feels like entering a meticulously designed RPG game map of Tibet.
Afternoon: Witness Buddhist debates at Sera Monastery, one of the six major monasteries of the Gelug sect. A historic hub for eminent monks and tulkus (reincarnated lamas) to teach and debate, it offers a unique experience: every afternoon (except weekends), visitors can witness monks in vibrant red robes engaging in heated philosophical debates—an immersive display of faith and intellectual rigor.
Afternoon:we reach Everest Base Camp and alight to take photos with the 8,848.86-meter monument of Mount Everest (note: the correct height is 8,848.86 meters; the original "848.86" may be a typo). Then, we freely explore Rongbuk Monastery, the world’s highest-altitude temple. Many mountaineering experts believe the monastery’s location offers the best vantage point to view Mount Qomolangma.
Next to the monastery, we visit the world’s highest-altitude themed post office, where everyone can drop postcards into the mailbox or leave name cards as a memento. After the visit, we proceed to check in at the hotel/guesthouse in due course.
